Talking to Kids about Marijuana

Happy and Healthy

About a month ago my own family took a street trip to southern Colorado normally to explore the Great Sand Dunes National Park. As good fortune would have it, the weather didn’t entirely cooperate, and we awoke to freshly fallen snow on our first morning out of doors the dunes. Recalling that a few pals had referred to a close-by alligator and reptile rescue (yep, in Colorado – there are geothermal springs), we decided to head there in place of to the dunes that day.

While on the rescue, my 9-12 months-antique son had a threat to maintain a younger alligator. After getting a few snap shots snapped (ha, no pun intended), the alligator handler crammed out a certificates of bravery for Julian and had the alligator bite the paper to “make it authentic.” He then asked my son to keep out his arm for a actual alligator chew to show his pals that he sincerely did keep one. Julian concept momentarily, then extended his arm. The handler began laughing a bit bit and waved his arm away pronouncing, “When you become old, human beings may ask you to do dumb matters only for their enjoyment. They’re called your pals. But you don’t have to do it. You can say no.”

That made me think about how as my youngsters enter their teenage years (it’s developing so rapid), they will likely come across other kids who suggest they do X, Y, or Z — and marijuana might also thoroughly be one of those things.
